Have you noticed how your young athlete moves, do they look coordinated, balanced, and under control when they move? Do they have correct movement patterns when they turn or decelerate? Have you taught them the mechanics on how to decelerate or how to land from a jump?
If your athlete is not moving well, what are you doing to develop their skills? Applying more cone drills into the program will not improve movement mechanics; it may be that in a week, all the training sessions are spent developing the sporting technique and not training the basic skill sets of the athlete.
It may be that you have not considered the individuals movement outside the sport, or time does not allow you to develop their needs.
Your young athletes need to be assessed to develop a program that will progress them in their movement skills, if you are a coach coaching a sport make sure your athlete is getting what they need.
